Vitthal Udyognagar in Anand

Notified as an industrial area, Vitthal Udyog Nagar or commonly called Udyognagar, is a prominent locality in Anand. Established in 1963, Late H. M. Patel envisioned the locality as essentially an industrial area in Anand, Gujarat.

“Udyog” is an equivalent of “industry” in Hindi and Gujrati. Vithhal Udyog Nagar is where all the industries, be it chemical, paint, metal, timber, steel, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, rice beverages, or the likes are located. The town is named after the elder brother of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Veer Vitthal Bhai Patel.

Establishment of Vitthal Udyognagar in Anand

After the establishment of Vallabh Vidyanagar, leading Industrialists of Charotar region who had their industries and factories in Mumbai and Surat and elsewhere came to Vallabh Vidyanagar and established their units here. Late HM Patel, brother of Sardar Vallabh and Vitthalbhai Patel helped them in procuring principal facilities, including land, power and water to establish their units at the outskirts of Vallabh Vidyanagar.

In response to this invitation, large industries like Gujarat Manufacturing Company Limited and Elecon Engineering Company Limited were established in this area.
